Wellesley’s Biological Chemistry and Biology Club, (BC)^2, was founded in 2012 with the goal of fostering a stronger community within the biological chemistry and biology departments. We hope to achieve this in four main ways:
- Establish a supportive network among the students of Wellesley College.
- Serve as a forum in which students may meet and interact with faculty who research in the areas of biological chemistry and biology.
- Improve and cultivate interest in biological chemistry and biology in the Wellesley College community through programmed events.
- Become involved in the scientific community of the greater Boston area and the United States of America.
Each year, we host a variety of formal and informal events geared towards promoting conversations between students and professors, such as our lunch series and dessert series lectures. Additionally, we bring in professionals each year at the top of their fields to promote awareness of the diversity of careers available to STEM majors. We also host scavenger hunts, study breaks, and end-of-semester celebrations so that students could get to know each other better.
